Flooding

We’ve had a lot of rain over the last couple of days. The Mulberry Creek is out of her banks. I don’t know how much rain we’ve received as my cute little rain gauge froze last winter and I haven’t put the new one up yet. It’s on my “to do list” for tomorrow.

The back roads around us all look the same.

The road to the north.

The road to the south.

The blacktop into town was closed in multiple places. It’s amazing how many people go past the barricades and drive thru the flood waters.

Miles of gravel roads will need repaired.

Flooded fields

Prayers for all who are affected by the flooding.

Oh, my. I remember those gravel roads from my time in Iowa. There’s nothing funny about flooding, but it is a little amusing that we’re in the same situation for once. We had terrific storms last night, with more on the way, and a good bit of Houston and the surrounding area’s under water. The freeways and streets always flood — especially when people are getting 4-12″ of rain in a few hours!

We had lightning like I’ve never seen last night — continual, for nearly two hours. It really was impressive. It also took out the electricity for a few hours, but it’s back. With coffee, computer, and air conditioning, life is pretty good. I’m just glad I don’t have to get out and about. I hope you’re doing well, too, and that some of the water’s receded.

Goodness you have had a lot of rain!! 4-12” sound like a hurricane. That’s a lot of gallons of rain. If a gallon is 8 pounds, how much would that cloud weigh? The power of a thunderstorm is so amazing.
Hoping for warmer weather and some sunshine!!

Thanks for your prayers. We are high and dry, no problems for us. In our area a few homes were flooded, it was mostly flooded farm ground. On to the east of us in the Flint Hills area the damage was more substantial. Even loss of life due to driving around barricaded roads.
