Finally A Cool Day

The weather had been so hot.  Highs upper 90’s and into the 100’s.  It wasn’t even cooling off much at night.  Finally, we received some cooler weather and that means “load up” were going somewhere.

Camping at Kanoplis Reservoir, it was like having our own private lake, only 1 other camper in the campgrounds.  We hadn’t been to the lake since the start of summer, as it’s such a busy place with all the campers and boaters and we like to avoid crowds.  It was so nice and cool we were able to take long walks.

Another common thing you see at Kanoplis is the military flying maneuvers, today the  B-2 stealth bombers were flying at the bombing range, which is just east of the lake.  Awesome to see them!!  Just wished I could get a photo of them.

There’s a wild critter in the fork of that tree!

Beautiful sunset

That’s a hilarious photo of Wylie. I’m glad it cooled down, and that you got away. It was fun to read that you get to see the B-2s. I’m close enough to NASA and Ellington Field that some fancy plane flies by every now and then, and it is great to see them. The best plane around here is “the Super Guppy” — a huge transport plane that NASA uses to tote around rockets and such. When I see it flying over, it truly does look like a guppy — you can see it here.

Poor little Wylie, the things I make him do for a photo. He’s well rewarded!!
I had never seen the Guppy. What an interesting looking aircraft. I watched a video of them loading it with Saturn rocket sections. That would be amazing to see the flying guppy!

He’s a wild one. He’s so patient with me as I do take alot of photos of him – well most of the time he’s patient.
Have you been getting rain? I bet the desert is beautiful!

Did your comment finally show up? I approved it, but I don’t know why I would have to approve your comment. But so glad to have you visit my blog! You’ve been getting some much-needed rain, maybe too much. Summer is returning this week. We do have a camping overnight scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully we have a shady spot!
