Boot Scootin In Abilene

Lindsborg has the Dala horses, Wamego has Toto’s and Abilene has cowboy boots. In 2019 a group decided to install cowboy boots around the town, celebrating that the first cowboy boot was invented in Abilene in 1863.

Thank you to all the artists who designed these boots.

I had to get my mind readjusted when I first saw this. I stayed in Amarillo once, and big ol’ cowboy boots are a feature there, too. I’d say Abilene has taken it to a whole other level. These are great! I especially like the one with the cow and sunflowers, and the Mud Creek boot. One of our nearby towns has done the same with herons, and a different town on the bay has a whole clutch of pelicans — including an astronaut!

Would love to see the pelicans!!! You picked my favorite boots too. Of course the cow cowboy boot is adorable. The rose garden boot had a painting on it that is from the beautiful flower and rose garden at the park. I’ve never seen a more beautiful flower garden.
Have a wonderful day!!!! Always so good to hear from you!
