Autumn Days At The Lake

It has been a wonderful autumn in Kansas.  The days are warm, allowing us to been able to keep exploring a bit longer.  One of our favorite places to be at is Bennington State Lake.

Migrating pelicans

The little van (Vincent VanGo) certainly makes for comfortable outings. Our days consist of hiking, snacking, napping – repeat!

I like your little red leaf, but I really like those pelicans! I’ve seen only one group so far this year, flying high and fast. Once you get some colder weather and some good north winds, our winter visitors will start arriving for real! Right now, the Monarch butterflies are migrating — it’s such fun to see them ‘fluttering by.’

The pelicans have been so fun to watch. They’ve been here over a week , we’re enjoying the warm weather that is keeping them here. In fact there had been a pink flamingo at the Chase County fishing lake just outside of Cottonwood Falls. They named him Flint. Wouldn’t that of been fun to see in Kansas!
I would love the see the Monarch!!!! How do those little delicate creatures make that long journey!!
Enjoy your Monarch’s and it probably won’t be too long before the pelicans are headed your way.
