It was another beautiful winter day and that means we are out and about. We’ve been doing a lot of day trips to the local lakes but today we decided to go Lindsborg.
Our first stop a bakery – 350 Degrees. They really put out some wonderful baked goods. Rusk – made from cinnamon rolls that are sliced thin and rebaked in butter, cinnamon and sugar. That’s a dangerous treat!! So many wonderful pastries, bierocks, cinnamon rolls, bread pudding, so much more to choose from.
Next stop The White Peacock. The friendliest coffee shop around. I need to venture out and order something other than a Chi latte with oat milk, but it’s soooo good.
Time to hike it off.
Meadowlark Trail is a rail to trail. The trailhead at Lindsborg follows the old Union Pacific rail. The planned trail is a 13 mile rail to trail connecting Lindsborg and McPherson. The segment from Lindsborg is 4 miles, then the trail ends, with hopes of one day connecting to the trail that starts from the other end at McPherson.

A Christmas tree on the trail.

Smoky Hill River

This part of the trail is tree lined

I’d never in my life heard of bierocks. Once I looked them up, I wanted one — or maybe two! That looks like a wonderful place to hike. Is that bit of purple in the last photo part of Wylie’s leash, or a really, really late-blooming flower remnant?
Love the Christmas tree. Every now and then someone will decorate one along a highway here, draping tinsel and such around it. They’re always such fun to see!
I hope your Christmas is wonderful — has Wylie made his list for Santa yet?

Bierocks are wonderful!! I use to make them a lot when my son was home. No onions for him, his were hamburger and a bit of cheese. I’m thankful that they are readily available around Kansas.
You certainly have an eagle eye. I missed that and I wished I could say that it was a late blooming flower, but it is Wylie’s poop bag. Should have cropped that out of there but I didn’t see it. He doesn’t get too far from me. LOL
Wylie has a big celebrations before Christmas. He will be 13 year on December 20th. How can that be possible. Everyday is like Christmas for Wylie.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas.

I still remember Wylie’s elk birthday cake, with its frosting of mashed potatoes. What a lucky dog! and lucky you to have such a fine companion! Merry Christmas!
