A Few Beautiful Days Of May

After the flooding in early May be had some days that were so wonderful.

Always enjoy walking on one of our favorite backroads.

Beautiful Mother’s Day flowers from my son and his family. Thank you!! I love you all so much.

With rain in the forecast I cut some of my peonies. Oh no rain!

I love the photo of Wylie headed down the road, but the peonies really brought back some memories. We don’t have them here, but they were such a part of my mother and grandmother’s gardens. They were “the” cemetery flower, too. Back in the day, when it still was allowed to plant flowers, nearly everyone planted peonies. I was too young to pay attention, but it seems to me they must have overwintered well, since I’m sure mom and grandma wouldn’t have been replanting flowers every year. That was reserved for things like bachelor buttons and zinnias.

Wylie is in the lead, that means we are headed back to the Jeep! He enjoys a leisurely walk when we’re heading out, but at the turn around his pace picks up!

Don’t you love peonies!!! Their smell is amazing. The cemeteries will certainly be beautiful for Memorial Day as there are still a lot of buds yet to open. They are a bit droopy due to all the rain. My peonies are clear out by my chicken house and some over by the propane tank. I need to plant some closer to the house. They definitely are a hardy plant.
So good to hear from you!!!!
